In the fall of 2012, MusicFest Vancouver announced that it was suspending its 2013 festival. "We are very proud of our 12 years of tremendous classical, jazz, and world music experiences each August and throughout B.C." Morris Biddle, president of MusicFest Vancouver, said in a news release. "However, in common with many arts organizations, we have experienced reductions in all sources of revenue to the extent that we cannot meet our current financial obligations, and we as an organization must examine all possible solutions and outcomes going forward."
At the same time, we are pleased that the Early Music concerts, which were presented and produced by the Vancouver Early Music Festival, as part of a long-standing collaboration with MusicFest, are not affected by MusicFest's suspension, and the 2013 Vancouver Early Music Festival will take place, at the UBC Recital Hall and the Chan Centre, as usual this summer.
