Ernán López-Nussa is distinguished as one of today’s most remarkable young pianists. Thanks to rigorous academic training and his years of experience, he has achieved the maturity of sound and style which is usual in musicians much older than he.
His deeply sensitive style has its roots in Cuban and afrocuban musical traditions, European classics and contemporary music. He fuses rhythm and beauty, strength and lyricism, contributing significantly to the sound of today’s jazz.
López-Nussa’s compositions, because of their melodic richness, the charm of their themes and the intelligent use of expressive devices, virtuosity and technic, have become unforgettable, and already belong to the Cuban, American and international repertory.
Ernán López-Nussa has graced stages at Ronnie Scott’s in London, New Morning in Paris Chicago’s Cultural Center, the Museum of Art, Los Angeles, Teatro Municipal of Rio de Janeiro, Camarín del Carmen, Bogotá, Teresa Carreño, Caracas; Luna Park, Buenos Aires, New Morning, Geneva, Jazz a la Martinique, Fort de France, Festival Vancouver and the Fujiyama Jazz Festival, Japan.
Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, Italy, Germany, Peru, Surinam, Martinica, Holland, Venezuela, Mexico, Brazil, Greece, Great Britain, Canada, Japan and other countries have witnessed his unforgettable performances accompanied by a fiery quartet of young Cuban musicians.
