Cuban pianist Ernán López-Nussa was a hit in our 2003 Festival season, and this year’s programming spotlight on “Music of the Americas” gave us the perfect reason to reunite this remarkable player with his Vancouver fans. López-Nussa's musical roots dig deep into Cuban, Afro-Cuban and classical traditions, with poetic instincts and technical chops are fused in a dynamic blend that has won him fans in and outside of jazz and Latin music circles. For this “hard salsa” concert, he’s joined by an impressive ensemble of top Latin American singers, dancers and percussion and horn players, led by Sal Ferreras and including Miguelito Valdez (an alumnus of the Buena Vista Social Club) and Cuban vocalist Toto Berriel. Get ready to sway and swoon to their oh-so-intoxicating sound!

The concert will open with a performance by Brazilian singer and guitarist Celso Machado.
