Ludus Modalis

Ludus Modalis is an exceptional French vocal ensemble with a mission: to allow us to hear Renaissance choral music just as its 16th century composers intended it.

Led by Bruno Boterf of Ensemble Clément Janequin fame, Ludus Modalis pays meticulous attention to period performance aspects, from pronunciation and tempo to intonation governed by different modes. The result? The pure perfection of intricate polyphonic sound and the wondrous sense of having been transported through time to hear music as it would have been performed over four centuries ago.

Ludus Modalis’ concert program includes sacred works by Sweelinck, Costelley, l’Estocart, Le Jeune and Ferrabosco.
