Ludus Modalis
Pierre de Ronsard was an eloquent and respected French Renaissance writer, praised as “the Prince of Poets”, who inspired some of the best composers of the late 16th century to set his verses to music. The French vocal ensemble Ludus Modalis has dedicated itself to exploring and performing the music of France’s Renaissance period and its meticulous, exquisite interpretations – in concert and on disc – are admired all over the world. Its August 6 program will include settings of Ronsard love poems by Boni, Castro, Clereau, Janequin, and de Lassus complemented by motets and sacred madrigals by Palestrina. Imagine the marvelous sound in the lofty Cathedral space – brilliant!
Ludus Modalis also performs on August 9
